Udawalawe
Udawalawe National Park is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular wildlife destinations, located in the southern region of the island. It is especially famous for its large population of wild elephants, offering visitors some of the best opportunities in Asia to see elephants up close in their natural habitat.
The park features open grasslands, scrub forests, and the scenic Udawalawe Reservoir, which attracts a wide variety of wildlife. Along with elephants, visitors may also spot water buffalo, crocodiles, deer, jackals, monkeys, and many species of birds.
A jeep safari through Udawalawe provides a peaceful yet exciting experience, making it ideal for families, nature lovers, and photographers. It is also home to the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned baby elephants are cared for before being released back into the wild.
