Minneriya
Minneriya National Park is a famous wildlife reserve located in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, best known for its spectacular “Elephant Gathering”, one of the largest wild elephant congregations in Asia. During the dry season, hundreds of elephants gather around the Minneriya Tank (reservoir) to drink water, bathe, and feed.
The park features a mix of grasslands, forests, and wetlands, creating a rich habitat for diverse wildlife. In addition to elephants, visitors may also spot deer, monkeys, crocodiles, buffalo, and many species of birds.
A jeep safari in Minneriya offers an unforgettable nature experience, especially during the peak season from July to October, making it one of the top destinations in Sri Lanka for wildlife lovers and photographers.
