Horton Plains
Horton Plains National Park is a beautiful high-altitude nature reserve located in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, known for its cool climate, misty landscapes, and unique cloud forest ecosystem. It is one of the most important biodiversity areas in the country and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The park is most famous for World’s End, a breathtaking cliff with a near 880-meter drop that offers spectacular panoramic views on clear mornings. Another key attraction is Baker’s Falls, a scenic waterfall surrounded by lush green forest.
Visitors can enjoy a peaceful hiking trail through grasslands, cloud forests, and wildlife habitats, where they may spot sambar deer, rare birds, and endemic plants. Horton Plains is a must-visit destination for nature lovers, hikers, and photographers looking for one of Sri Lanka’s most unforgettable natural experiences.
